Rolex’s sister brand was eagerly awaited this year by tocante enthusiasts. Last year, Tudor’s new products focused on the Black Bay 54 and this year we are entitled to a very beautiful Black Bay 58 GMT but not only that, let’s get to the heart of the matter.
Tudor Black Bay 58 GMT
The Swiss brand has just unveiled a GMT version of this Black Bay 58 collection. This new watch has dimensions of 39 mm in diameter, with a lug-to-lug of 47.8 mm and a thickness of 12.8 mm. Compared to the classic version of the Black Bay 58, it is slightly thicker by 0.9 mm but I find that it still fits relatively well.
On the other hand, we are a long way from the 14.6 mm thickness of the Black Bay GMT and Pro models. With this new Black Bay 58 GMT, Tudor wishes to conquer the finest wrists and offer a GMT in harmonious and worked proportions. In other words, the brand is giving its fans exactly what they asked for.
The matte black dial is adorned with gold accents and beautiful Snowflake hands, characteristic of the Tudor style. The bidirectional 24-hour bezel features the so-called “Coke” colors in black and burgundy, with gold numerals as well.
If this new Black Bay 58 GMT can boast of being a little thinner, it is thanks to the incorporation of the brand new automatic Caliber MT5450-U. This unique movement, developed by Kenissi, offers a power reserve of 65 hours and resistance to magnetic fields reaching 15,000 gauss. It is also certified by METAS. Its accuracy is remarkable, with a tolerance range of just 0 to +5 seconds per day, clearly exceeding the COSC standards of -4 to +6. This Black Bay 58 GMT is waterproof up to 200 meters deep.
The New Tudor Black Bay 41mm
No big craziness on the Tudor Black Bay side, apart from the color, not much has changed since last year’s improvements. The 2024 model retains the same case of 41 mm in diameter and 13.6 mm in thickness equipped with the MT5602-U certified Master Chronometer movement. As for the features, this Black Bay still offers water resistance to 200 meters, a domed sapphire crystal, a unidirectional diving bezel graduated to 60 minutes, as well as a screw-down case back and crown. The subtly brushed black dial is embellished with Tudor’s iconic snowflake-shaped hand.
Tudor Black Bay 58 en Or 18k
With this release Tudor hit the nail on the head for my part. Three years after unveiling a Black Bay 58 in gold, Tudor goes even further by integrating a bracelet also in 18-carat gold. The bezel and dial feature the same emerald green hue as the existing gold version.
The case and bracelet of this new Black Bay 58 18k feature an entirely matte and satin finish, maintaining the standard diameter of 39mm and 12.7mm thickness. Like the silver and gold version launched in 2021, it is equipped with a completely transparent case back which reveals Tudor’s in-house caliber MT5400, a COSC-certified movement offering a power reserve of 70 hours.
Tudor Light Rose
Finally, let’s talk about a more feminine watch, the famous Tudor Clair de Rose which was unveiled yesterday during Replica Watches and Wonders 2024. This collection returns to the forefront with the introduction of very beautiful blue dials, the color of the brand remember.
These new Tudor Clair de Rose are available in 3 different diameters: 26 mm, 30 mm and 34 mm. You can choose between alternating Roman numerals and diamond indexes on any size. The center of the dial is sunburst guilloche and there is a date window at 3 p.m.
